When you’re working on a full-time job, part-time job or even working from home, maintaining a house or an apartment is not an easy feat. Cleaning may not be the most enjoyable task, but it is necessary to help you declutter your mind too.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a minimalist or someone who likes keeping a lot of furniture, ornaments, etc. with you, cleaning is always something that has to be done regularly and consistently to ensure that you’re not left with a lot of work all at once. To make life easier, below are some tips to help you clean and declutter faster and more efficiently.

Decluttering before you clean

It is necessary to keep everything in its’ rightful place before you start cleaning or vacuuming your apartment space. There is no way to clean around the stuff that has to be kept in its rightful place, so therefore it makes life a lot easier if the clutter is kept in an organized manner before the actual dusting, mopping and sanitization happens.

Bathroom Start by washing the sink, counter, and toilet. Next, clean out the shower and tub. This way you can easily disinfect your bathroom area without having to worry about scrubbing or cleaning in those tight spaces. The floor is next. Finally, sweep the floor until it is spotless.

Cleaning from top to bottom

The most practical way to clean it from top to bottom is when you clean high places, the dust falls onto the ground, or other lower places which makes it much easier to clean all at once. It is easier to start from ceiling fans, cobwebs on the roof, dust from top shelves in cupboards and shelves and work your way to the table tops and bottom shelves, and finally work on sweeping and vacuuming the ground with all the dust.

Keeping things tidy

Try to keep things tidy at all times, such as making your bed every day and arranging the quilt covers, washing your dishes, and doing laundry. Being consistent with these habits will make the entire process of cleaning much easier, faster, and more efficient.  

Dry Cleaning & Wet Cleaning

You have to make sure that you’ve vacuumed, dusted and swept well enough before you start on the wet cleaning such as mopping, using a glass cleaner, and disinfectant to wipe surfaces. The moment dust particles are still lying around. It will mix with the wet cleaning process and make the entire situation worse.

Disinfecting

If you have kids and if you’re someone who has guests or outsiders all the time, it is absolutely important to disinfect commonly used surfaces; even though covid is seeing a downwards trend. Disinfecting will ensure the safety of everyone at home.

However, disinfecting every day can be a tedious task. Therefore places like the toilet and the kitchen sink are good areas to disinfect regularly. Other common spaces and areas can be cleaned once or twice a week depending on how it is needed depending on the situation.

Cleaning can be a source of stress for some people. Especially for perfectionists if they’re keen on keeping things squeaky clean. But it doesn’t have to be stressful; it can be a fun activity that’s been done with the involvement of all family members.
