The development of online medical consultation platforms has increased the convenience of doctor-patient communication and also brought new challenges to the management of doctor-patient relations. In order to better understand how online medical consultation affects doctor-patient communication, this study uses a physician review analysis to explore the influencing factors and mechanisms of doctor consultation volume on online medical consultation platforms.
The study uses content analysis to analyze the reviews of three popular online medical consultation platforms in China: Ali Health, Ding talk Doctor, and We Doctor. A total of 3,000 reviews were analyzed.
Main reasons why patients consult doctors online

- Improved accessibility to healthcare
- Improved communication with doctors
- Easy access to doctor
- Improved service quality
Patients’ satisfaction with online medical consultation is affected by three factors
- The quality of doctor-patient communication
- The convenience of online medical consultation

The results of this study suggest that online medical consultation can improve doctor-patient communication and reduce the time and cost of doctor-patient communication. However, online medical consultation should be used in combination with offline medical consultation to provide patients with the best possible medical care.
Online consultation volume
This study found that the average consultation volume on online medical consultation platforms is significantly higher than that of offline medical institutions, and that the main reason for this difference is the convenience of online communication. Patients can consult with doctors anytime, anywhere, without having to make an appointment or wait in line. In addition, online medical consultations are usually cheaper than offline consultations, which also contribute to the increase in consultation volume.
Negative aspects to online medical consultations
There are some negative aspects to online medical consultations. For example, patients may not be able to get the same level of care as they would receive from an offline doctor. In addition, due to the lack of face-to-face interaction, it may be more difficult for doctors.nSecond, in survey data was collected from patients who have consulted doctors online.
A total of 1,000 patients were surveyed. The results showed that the majority of patients were satisfied with the online consultation service, and that the main reasons for their satisfaction were the convenience and affordability of the service. However, some patients were not satisfied with the online doctor healthtap service, and the main reasons for their dissatisfaction were the lack of face-to-face interaction and the difficulty of getting to know the doctor.
